Montmorency Cherry owes its name to the Montmorency Valley in France, where it was developed more than 4 centuries ago. It is a variety of sour cherry so it's mostly used in tarts, jams and pies rather than eaten raw.
Taking Montmorency Cherry as a supplement brings you all the goodness of the raw fruit without its sourness as it is a good antioxidant and a source of vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin A, C, K, Potassium, Manganese and Copper. Some studies have shown that it may be beneficial to our bodies in reducing muscle soreness after a gym or running session, improving sleep (as it contains melatonin), reducing symptoms of arthritis and gout; it may also promote brain health and strengthen our immune system - although all these benefits have not been clinically proven and approved by UK Food Standards Agency.
