PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Collagen is a type of protein made up from amino acids. Its fibre-like structure is used to make connective tissue and in a human body it is present in bones, joints, cartilage, tendons, muscles, blood vessels, teeth, eyes, skin and nails. Although it is abundant in our bodies, collagen levels gradually decline with age - around 25 we lose the ability to rebuild quantitative and qualitative collagen; there are factors that may contribute to its faster decline, such as smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, shortage of sleep, excessive exposure to sunlight. It is thought that physical exercise can lower collagen levels too.
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a slippery substance naturally produced by human body - average 70 kg (150 lb) person has about 15 grams of HA in the body. Its role is to keep moisture in and lubricate connective tissue, skin, bones and joints. It plays vital role in wound healing too. It is a well known ingredient of eye drops that help relieve symptoms of dry eye.
Taking Collagen supplements may improve health and look of your skin, nails and hair. Some studies have shown that collagen may reduce joint pain such as one associated with osteoarthritis and improve overall health of your bones and joints - but you cannot take this for granted as it has not been clinically proven, thus not approved by Food Standards Agency (FSA).
The benefits of Hyaluronic Acid supplements, again: not clinically proven, are thought to be: keeping joints healthy and relieving joint pain, slowing down the progression of osteoporosis, maintenance of skin hydration and improving overall skin condition and look - so we think that it is a good companion to collagen as a dietary supplement.
Our Marine Collagen is hydrolysed - in short, this means its molecules are broken down into smaller particles, making them more bioavailable and much easier absorbable in human body. The collagen is mainly of type I (95-97% - for skin, nails, hair, bones) and Type III (3-5% - for muscles and arteries). We have fortified the Collagen/HA combination with a high dose of 9 important vitamins. The pack contains 29 daily portions with 10g (10,000mg) of pure collagen per portion. It comes in 2 variants:
- Unflavoured: neutral flavour, unsweetened - just add to some fruit juice or any other drink;
- Orange Flavour: sweetened with Stevia - a nice drink just mixed with water, or you can add it to orange/other fruit juice.
