PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Vitamin K is a group of fat-soluble vitamins that we can divide onto 2 main types: K1 (Phylloquinone) and K2 (Menaquinone). There are several sub-types of the K2, of which MK-7 is absorbed most efficiently in the body and also has higher bioavailability than the other types as it stays and works in the body much longer. Food sources rich with Vitamin K:
• K1: leafy greens, cabbage, brussel sprouts, asparagus and avocado;
• K2: fermented foods such as notto (Japanese dish from soybeans), sauerkraut, hard cheese, also chicken and beef.
Vitamin K contributes to normal blood clotting and to the maintenance of bones, as it binds calcium in bones and other tissues. Some clinical trials have shown that Vitamin K2 can use calcium from the arteries and re-distribute it in the bones thus cleaning up the arteries from calcium residue.
Vitamin K is often taken in combination with Vitamin D to promote bone health.
